Inaugural AI for Breakfast Global Circle convenes in Geneva, Switzerland

On July 8, Lady Justice Initiative collaborated with Lawyers Hub, Center for AI and Digital Policy, and Trust Valley to convene an AI for Breakfast Global Circle for Women. The Circle meet alongside the inaugural UN Global Dialogue on AI Governance, the World Summit of the Information Society Forum, and AI for Good.  Part of Lady Justice Initiative’s AI for Breakfast City Circles for Women and Law initiative, the Geneva circle was the inaugural convening of a new Global Circle, which will meet alongside global convenings.  

The Circle brought together an intimate group of women peers working in law, policy, and AI governance, drawn from those present for the global meetings and the Swiss legal community, to connect and exchange experiences on the opportunities and challenges they are navigating.

Three women leading at the forefront of AI transformation shared insights from their work. Linda Bonyo, CEO Lawyers Hub spoke about choosing one big thing to focus on and to protecting your own capacity to lead through self-care. Cecilia Garcia Podoley, Fellow Center for AI Policy and Development emphasized issues women leading change must grapple with, from disinformation to online violence. Lennig Pedron, CEO Trust Valley shared how her organization is uniting hundreds of public and private entities to turn the challenges of digital trust and cybersecurity into innovation and opportunity across Switzerland and beyond.

AI is moving faster and reaching further than any single leader can navigate alone, which makes peer connection and collaboration essential. AI transformation is also posing unique challenges and creating distinct opportunities for women in law-related roles, from how careers are evolving to the shape of policy, institutions, and legal solutions. The Global Circle is a space for them to connect, share intelligence, and collaborate.
