Women worldwide face barriers in law, whether working as professionals where their ranks are few among top leadership roles, encounter bias, unequal pay, and navigate challenging working environments, causing many to leave the field.
AI and other emerging technology and innovation are catalyzing tectonic shifts in the legal sector, presenting a historic opportunity to combat exclusion and bias in the legal systems and workplaces of today as new systems, organizations, solutions, and products are built. The rapid advance of artificial intelligence (AI) and other emerging technology is supercharging this opportunity as well as the imperative for action to advance equality and maximize women’s participation and leadership to propel economic competitiveness and AI leadership.
Around the world, women in law have seized the opportunity, turning to entrepreneurship or pioneering innovation, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence in their institutions and even their countries.
Our recent global study 105 women in 31 countries in these fields discusses their journeys, challenges, barriers, and successes and provides a blueprint for catalyzing opportunity for women building the future of law.
